Xmas Eve Celebration

As always, the McElroy family showed themselves to be the First Family of compassion through the holidays, not just talking the talk but walking the walk by dressing up for Christmas Eve and coming down to the homeless shelter to bring some cheer and serve dinner themselves to the hundreds of people glad to be inside on a cold breezy night, with a staggeringly tall, decorated tree and Santa Claus wandering around taking selfies with the tent residents.

One resident brought a Christmas gift to Shelly McElroy, wife of Bob McElroy, the president and CEO of the Alpha Project for the Homeless, and the very youngest members of the group stood at the end of the food line giving handfuls of candy out for dessert. Showing a little love goes a lot further than just throwing money at a charity and never meeting the people on the receiving end. It’s about People, people.

The McElroys made Christmas merry for hundreds of people just by showing up and offering the greatest gift: their time.
